Religious Education is a vital part of St. Paul parish.  Knowing our faith and putting it into practice in our daily lives is a cornerstone in what we believe.

To aid in this process is our Religious Education department.  Listed below are some of the programs that we offer.  If you have any questions about any of our programs you can contact the Religious Education Director at 512-280-4460.

 

Religious Education Classes K – 12


Sessions for Kindergarten through 8th grade children are one hour once a week.  Classes meet on Monday afternoon at 5 p.m., Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons at 4:30 and in the evenings at 6 p.m. Children learn what we as Catholics believe and how we worship and live out our faith.  Children are placed in group with others in their same school grade.  Two adult catechists are assigned to each group.

High School Religious Education and Confirmation Preparation meet 1 1/2 hours per week.  Classes are Wednesday from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.  Confirmation preparation begins in the spring of their Confirmation year.  To understand the Confirmation preparation process please follow the link below.

Confirmation Formation Policy

 

First Reconciliation and First Communion

 

Students must be 7 years old at the time he/she starts the program.  A copy of the student’s baptismal certificate is required at the time of registration.  The student must have completed one (1) year of Religious Education instruction prior to registering for the First Eucharist class.

 

Students older than seven (7) years old are registered in the Special Sacraments class.  A copy of the student’s baptismal certificate is required at the time of registration.

 

RCIA for Adults Adapted for Children


The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Adapted for Children (RCIA for Children) is a journey with the Catholic community in search of God.  This class is offered for children over the age of six (6) up to the age of 14 who wish to be baptized into the Catholic Church.  The RCIA for children presents non-Catholics (not baptized) with an in-depth study of our faith.  It is a process leading up to sacramental initiation through baptism, confirmation and the Eucharist. 

 

Adult Confirmation


Adult Confirmation classes are primarily for baptized Catholics who have not been confirmed.  Classes are offered every fall and spring.  A copy of the baptismal certificate is required at the time of registration. 

 

RCIA for Adults

 

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a journey with the Catholic community in search of God.  The RCIA presents non-Catholics with an in-depth study of our faith with no obligation to be baptized.  It is a process by which the individual can discern and ritualize the stages of conversion leading up to and including sacramental initiation through baptism, confirmation and the Eucharist.  These sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil.  Topics included are: The Mystery of God, Mary, the Communion of Saints, the Popes, Church Councils, Church History, the Bible, Sacraments and much more.  
 

  • These sessions are open to all who are curious about Catholicism. There is no obligation to enter into the Church.

  • Evening sessions meet regularly during the year to explore the meaning of our faith and to help individuals discern their call.

  • The Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) is the process for anyone who wants to become a member of the Catholic faith community.

  • These sessions are for persons who would like to be baptized or who have been previously baptized in another Christian faith.

 

Adult Formation


We meet to study and discuss the scriptural and historical foundations of our Church in the hopes of achieving a better understanding of our faith.  We offer a bible study to help you draw closer to God through prayer, study and community.  Please feel free to join us.
