Morning With Jesus - Catholic Early Education

The MWJ program is designed to provide activities that are age as well as individually appropriateMornings With Jesus for children age 18 months through Pre-K (4/5 years). Each classroom has 12 children with 1 lead teacher and 1 assistant teacher. We balance religion with academics using a theme based curriculum to provide physical, mental, social, and spiritual development opportunities.

Being a Catholic ministry, MWJ observes Catholic Christian celebrations and use of religious symbolism to teach of God's love. Some of the age appropriate activities we provide for the children to learn through exploration and discovery include dramatic play, music, books, science, games, art, outdoor play, number concepts, pre-reading, pre-math and sensory play. We also conduct "Chapel" time, Spanish lessons, and play through creative movement.

MWJ offers, both paid and volunteer opportunities, to adults in our parish, to share their love, skills and knowledge with the children enrolled in the program.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

The term 'Children's Liturgy of the Word' refers to the practice of children leaving the assembly during the Liturgy of the Word and gathering elsewhere to celebrate a separate Liturgy of the Word that is more appropriate to their level of understanding.

Children's Liturgy of the Word is liturgy, ritual prayer, and not catechesis (religious instruction) or child minding. It's purpose is not to give the children coloring or craft activities to keep them busy so the adults can listen to the homily in peace!  But it is a liturgical celebration, all the principles of good liturgy (active participation, clear symbols, etc) apply.

Secondly, it is Liturgy of the Word, so it is ritual centered on the proclamation and breaking open of the scriptures. The children do what the rest of the community is doing at this point of the Mass. They listen to the scriptures proclaimed and applied to contemporary life and respond in various ways. It is an experience of prayer, of dialogue with God.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word is celebrated during the Sunday 9:00am, 11:00am, and 12:30pm Masses.  Volunteers are always needed to both lead and assist.

Summer Bible Camp

A fun exciting way for children to learn more about God through music, games, and bible adventures. We accept young children from ages 4 to 10 years into our program in classes of preschool through 5th grade. We rely primarily on adult and youth volunteers for the majority of the program.

In addition, the program offers a Youth Leadership Camp for our middle school and high school volunteers. These young people learn by attending workshops and through hands-on leadership and mentoring.
